On April 25 Kailani Clarke was awarded an honorable mention for her essay, Between the Río and Rome, at the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C., as part of the World Artists Experiences project.

On June 11th, The Gunston School broke ground on a $4 million renovation of "The Brick Building", one of the school's two major academic buildings. This renovation and modernization project, overseen by The Whiting-Turner Construction Co., will fully refurbish a facility that was originally constructed in 1964 as a dormitory space during the era when Gunston was an all-girls boarding school. The school now serves 165 students across the Mid-Shore region.

The Gunston School's 32-acre waterfront campus was filled with sunshine and smiling faces on June 6-7, as 37 graduating seniors were honored at the Green & White Awards Ceremony on Friday and Commencement on Saturday. Opening the Green & White Awards Ceremony was Student Government President Kimberly Schlosser. Headmaster John Lewis then addressed the Class of 2014 and praised them for their accomplishments, adding what a privilege it had been to lead such an extraordinary group of young men and women. He wished them all the best in their future endeavors.

On Memorial Day Monday, seven Environmental Club members gathered at sunset on two of Dover's beaches to witness and record an amazing site, the spawning of the horseshoe crab.

Gunston has partnered with the Corsica River Conservancy and Marylanders Grows Oysters (MGO) a program to help restore oyster reefs in the Corsica. In the fall, Gunston students and staff helped place oyster shells seeded with new spat (baby oysters) in protective cages. These cages hung from piers and docks throughout the winter, filtering sediment as they grew.

Friday, May 16, marked a special day at The Gunston School. An annual tradition, Senior Transition Day and Disembarkation commemorates seniors' final day on campus.

On Monday, May 19 Gunston's Director of Rowing, Nicole Stimpson, was honored in Annapolis by the Naval Academy's Women's Rowing Team with the christening of their newest eight-oared rowing shell"Nicole Stimpson".

On May 15th, both The Gunston School and Headmaster John Lewis were honored by the YMCA of the Chesapeake at their Diamond Anniversary Celebration, celebrating 60 years of service on the Eastern Shore.
